Among the many services on offer are counseling, refuge accommodation, children’s services and the only local helpline.

  • Domestic abuse is common. On average two women a week are killed by a male partner or former partner: this constitutes around one-third of all female homicide victims.
  • Statistics show domestic abuse to be an extremely prevalent crime in the UK which can have a lasting impact on those affected.
  • Domestic abuse affects employees. Statistically, 10% of employees are likely to be victims or survivors of domestic abuse every year. 

Domestic abuse occurs at work

There is a perception that domestic abuse only happens in the home, but in reality 75% of domestic abuse victims are targeted at work.

Some perpetrators misuse workplace information or resources such as time, phones or email to threaten, harass or abuse their current or former partner.

This is a cause for concern as their actions can bring the organisation into disrepute. 

Domestic abuse impacts on the productivity and performance of your business:

  • it costs businesses £2.7billion each year
  • 56% of abused women arrive late for work at least five times a month
  • 28% leave early at least five days a month
  • 53% miss at least three days of work a month
