Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) is the UK's leading HIV and sexual health charity. Since 1982, THT has been at the forefront of raising awareness of the epidemic whilst providing services for people affected by HIV and promoting good sexual health. We want a world where people with HIV live healthy lives free from prejudice and discrimination, and where good sexual health is a right and reality for all.
We want to maximize sexual health in the UK, and minimize the spread of HIV and STIs, by encouraging people to value their sexual health and by leading innovation to increase access to local sexual health services .Empower everyone living with HIV in the UK to maximize their health and wellbeing by working to ensure the best possible HIV treatment and support services. Lead public and political support for HIV & sexual health issues, and campaign to eradicate stigma and discrimination.
How THT is helping
Our Brighton office has a range of services aimed at supporting people living with HIV from counselling and social care to support groups. We offer a range of sexual health services including community HIV testing, one-to-one advice and we provide safer sex resources.
We aim to educate, dispel myths and challenge the stigma surrounded around HIV. Our Positive Voices group goes to schools and colleges around Sussex to discuss living with HIV.
The Rise Living library is another opportunity for us to show how HIV can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, sexuality orrace. It’s a golden opportunity to talk to people about HIV along with mental health, drugs and alcohol, and domestic violence. These are all things society still has difficulties talking about and this is our attempt to start a dialogue.
