Michael Lane found guilty
Shana Grice's ex-partner is found guilty of murder, after reports that he was stalking her.
Stalking is extremely frightening behaviour which can often predict escalating violence, as in the tragic case of Shana Grice whose ex partner has been found guilty of her murder.
We take issue with the phrase ‘jilted lover’ as has been broadly used to describe Michael Lane in media reports about this crime, for it implies that some blame lies with the victim.
If you’re being stalked it is NOT your fault, and you are not alone. You can reach out for support in the following ways:
- Call RISE on 0300 323 9985
- Call the National Stalking Helpline on 0808 802 0300 or visit the website
- Call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247
Research has shown that a woman is at greatest risk of death or serious injury at the point of leaving, with 76% of women killed by their ex-partner or ex-spouse killed within the year that followed their separation. However there is help and support available.
Our thoughts are with Shana’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time.
