FAQ's

Below are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions:

Q1. What is included?

All participants will receive an event medal, a goody bag filled with donations from local businesses, a banana, water and a slice of home-made cake as they cross the finish line.

The event also includes baggage storage, water stations along the route, music to keep you motivated, supportive route marshals, a medical team and chip timing that provides both gun and chip times. Lead bikes and tail walkers will be on hand to keep you safe. Event technical t-shirts and running vests are also available to purchase.

Standard entry includes all of the above, all we ask is for you to fundraise for RISE, Brighton & Hove's Domestic Abuse charity.

Standard+ entry includes: Same as above + a donation to RISE (meaning you don't need to fundraise independently)

You can also enter as a team of 4, benefitting from a discounted entry fee for each individual. Plus, there's an exciting prize for the fastest team of four!

We’ve recently introduced an exciting opportunity for schools (Year 10 and above) to compete against other local schools and colleges for the prestigious Schools Shield!

Q2. What if I enter and then can’t make the event?

If you are no longer able to run for any reason, please contact us at [email protected].

You also have the option to run the 8K remotely! Simply send us your Strava route and time, and we’ll include you in the results. You’ll still receive your medal as part of the event.

Q3. Can I walk instead of running?

Yes, you’re welcome to go at your own pace! We have walkers at the back of the group to ensure your health and safety throughout the event. Please note that the finish line will close at 12:30 pm at the latest.

Q4. Can I dress up?

Of course! We actively encourage dressing up, and have a prize for the best fancy dress.

Q5. Will there be refreshments available on the day?

Yes, we will be providing water stations, homemade cakes, and bananas on the day. Additional refreshments will be available for purchase from Nic & Ben's catering van. Please note that, due to the location, card payments are not currently accepted - so don’t forget to bring cash!

Q6. Can I purchase merchandise?

Yes, merchandise is available at checkout. If you’ve already registered and would like to purchase merchandise now, you can log back into your registration and place your order. Merchandise will also be available to buy on the day; however, due to the location, card payments are not currently accepted - so please bring cash!

Q7. What if I am injured on the day?

Although injuries are rare, a full medical team will be available on the day to assist should any injuries occur. A safety bicycle will patrol the course, and marshals stationed at every kilometer marker are there to ensure you get help as quickly as possible if needed.

If you leave the race mid-route without receiving medical attention, please notify us by email or text the 8K Project Manager. Route marshals will have this contact information readily available.

Q8. Will there be a warm-up session before the race?

Yes. Zuzana from Z-Energy will be there to make sure everyone is warmed up and ready to run! Be sure to arrive by 9:30am, as the warm-up will start shortly after.

Q9. Will there be men there?

Yes, although men aren't allowed to enter the race, they are allowed on site and fill important roles, such as volunteers and supporters on the route, and there will be male contractors there as part of the event support.

Q10. Will photographs be taken on the day?

Yes, we will have photographers on the day, taking candid photos and photos of our prize winners. If you don't want your photo to be used publicly, please email us at [email protected] and speak to a member of staff on the day.

Q11. What are the age restrictions?

The minimum age is 14 (Year 10 for schools), no maximum age. Please note that under-13s cannot volunteer, and all under-18s must have parental consent.
