University Challenge Cup

Could your University team win our inaugural University Challenge Cup? Will there be extra competition between faculties or societies?

Registrations open soon!

What is the University Challenge Cup?

The RISE University Challenge Cup is an 8K run for female students, part of our iconic, annual 8K Run for Women. It is an opportunity for all Universities in Brighton and Hove to get involved in our run.

Globally, nearly one in four individuals who have been in a relationship have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner.

Involvement provides a chance to talk about this issue in universities and gives women an empowering opportunity to really do something about it. Every year the run raises around £25k for the vital work RISE does supporting those affected by domestic abuse in our area.

The entry price is discounted for teams, and each runner will receive their own 8K Run for Women finishers medal and a goody bag containing items donated by our partners!

What's involved?

  • University teams need to register and enter a team to run, and commit to fundraising at least £40 per runner as well as their entry fee.
  • Up to 15 students per team
  • Students can be in any year
  • All runners must be female
  • The winning university or faculty will be the one with the combined fastest time of their eight fastest runners
  • Male students and teachers can get involved by volunteering on or before the day, as well as by fundraising and donating but they are unable to run

What do we get if we win?

  • Keep the shield for 1 year to display at campus
  • Finishers medals for each finisher
  • A goody bag, containing items donated by our partners
  • There are also prizes for Overall 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, Highest Individual and/or Group Fundraiser, Fancy Dress and more

How do we sign up?

Contact our 8K team via email at [email protected] who will organise a university visit to encourage and inspire your students to be part of the team and get the team signed up.

We look forward to hearing from you!
