RISE at Trans Pride

Posted on July, 2018

We very much enjoyed taking part in Brighton Trans Pride and were delighted to have a stall at the main park event at Brunswick Square!

RISE is an inclusive feminist organisation that supports self-identified women, LGBT people and their children surviving domestic violence and abuse. We believe that all survivors of domestic abuse should have access to services that meet their needs and work closely with individuals towards this. Our specialist LGBT casework service, developed over ten years ago in partnership with local community organisations including Switchboard, provides support tailored to the specific needs of the community and is funded by Brighton Hove and East Sussex Councils.

In recent years we have developed an innovative LGBT refuge/housing support service, firstly in Brighton and now in partnership with our fantastic national and local partners, Stonewall Housing, LGBT Foundation Manchester, and Southdown Housing.

We had a great Trans Pride on our stall with Survivors Network. It had a wonderful atmosphere and it was lovely to meet everyone who came to talk to us on the stand. Thank you for all your messages of hope you added to our wishing tree. See you again next year!
