Now in its 18th year, the RISE 8K continues to develop as a cornerstone event in the community — not only as a celebrated event for runners of all levels but as a significant annual fundraiser for the RISE charity, supporting women and families impacted by domestic abuse.
This year, the event is proud to announce new sponsors and an exciting new partnership with SheRACES, the global movement working to make sport more inclusive and accessible for women. In a significant moment for the event, Sophie Power – ultrarunner, activist, and founder of SheRACES – will serve as the official race starter.
Sophie made headlines in 2018 with a now-iconic image of her breastfeeding during the 106-mile UTMB ultramarathon, sparking global conversations about motherhood and female visibility in sport. Through SheRACES, she continues to advocate for systemic change to remove the barriers women face in racing and training.
“We’re beyond proud to welcome Sophie to the RISE 8K,” said Jo Gough, CEO. “Her work with SheRACES aligns perfectly with our mission at RISE — supporting and empowering women both on and off race day.”
The RISE 8K has long served as a platform for empowerment, resilience, and community action. The 2025 edition will be elevated even further by support from new sponsors including Strive 25, Roedean School, and Brighton & Hove Soiree Rotary Club. These partnerships will directly support both the race experience and the critical services offered by RISE throughout the year.
The collaboration with SheRACES will feature co-branded initiatives and a shared commitment to ensuring that every woman feels welcome and seen at the start line.
“At SheRACES, we believe racing should work for all women,” said Sophie Power. “I’m thrilled to partner with RISE 8K — an event that not only uplifts women on race day but drives real, lasting change in the lives of those who need it most.”
Whether you're chasing a new goal, volunteering or simply showing up in solidarity, this year’s RISE 8K promises to be a powerful celebration of community, running and people coming together for something bigger than themselves.
