It’s busy. It’s fun. It’s Autumn at RISE.

It’s RISE's busiest time of the year - and there are loads of ways for YOU to get involved.

RISE CEO Blog October LANDSCAPE

We’re entering into one of our busiest periods here at RISE and, as the evenings get longer and cooler, we’re all hoping you will want to get involved! Here’s what we have coming up.

From the 8th to the 15th of October, we’re taking part in The Big Give. This is a seven-day online match funding campaign, which means that any donation you make through the Big Give platform at that time will be DOUBLED at no cost to you. If you want to support us, this is a brilliant opportunity make your cash go twice as far.

We’ll announce the direct link to the donation page on our news page and social media as soon as the period opens on the 8th.

Sophie Power

On Sunday the 12th of October, our iconic RISE 8K Undercliff Run for Women will see 600 runners take to the Undercliff path, and we're delighted that ultrarunner, activist, and founder of SheRACES Sophie Power will be our official race starter.

The event is not only the 18th 8K but is an official fringe event for FiLiA, the largest grassroots feminist conference in Europe, which will be bringing 3000 feminists to our city.

We All R IS E Up Audiobook by Mary Murphy Launch Event Twitter Post

Next, on Saturday 18th October, we’ll be celebrating the launch of We All R.I.S.E Up, an audiobook by survivor and uber-thriver Mary Murphy. The proceeds from the launch event and audiobook sales will be donated to RISE.

Mary says

"They [RISE] supported me when I was living with domestic violence and have supported me as I become a successful social entrepreneur, an activism poetry writer and spoken word performer.

Writing and performing poems about my experiences provides me with a very safe way to express my feelings and to reach other people, helping them to know it’s okay to speak out

I’m thrilled to have reached the point where I’m able raise funds for R.I.S.E. that will be used to help support other women and girls living with &/surviving domestic violence

Recording the audiobook has been truly healing and has helped me acknowledge that I have through my own efforts become an amazing writer and performer."

As if that wasn’t enough, we’re finalising details of our plans for the 16 Days of Activism Against gender-based violence. Running from International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on the 25th of November, to Human Rights Day on the 10th December, were planning to share inspiring stats and stories, and our RISE and Shine Weekender, from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th November, in partnership with Wild Roots Retreats will give you the chance to reset, recharge and revitalise before December lands.

Last but by no means least, we'll be running our annual Christmas Gift Giving campaign in late November, ensuring that every child we support will receives gifts this Christmas.

After that and running alongside all of this are ongoing opportunities to help.
